Who is the Orlando Concert Band?

The Orlando Concert Band is a 70-member wind ensemble, organized and operated as a not-for-profit Florida corporation. Founded in 1989 and composed of both professional and amateur musicians, the band performs throughout Central Florida for both concerts and a variety of ceremonies and other special events.

The mission of the band is to celebrate and preserve America’s musical heritage through professional-level performances of musical literature for concert band.  Past performances of the Orlando Concert Band include the St. Luke’s Lutheran Church of Oviedo concert series, the City of Orlando’s “Fireworks at the Fountain” 4th of July celebration, the grand opening weekend of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts, annual Memorial Day Ceremonies at Woodlawn Cemetery, Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University’s twice-annually commencement ceremonies in Daytona Beach, Florida and NASA’s 50th Anniversary at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Jon Territo has been the Music Director of the Orlando Concert Band since 2009, bringing great band literature to audiences in the Orlando area.

Additionally, he has conducted the Orlando Philharmonic, Disney’s Christmas Candlelight Orchestra and Choir, the First Baptist Orlando Orchestra and Choir, the Florida Young Artists Orchestra and other ensembles in Central Florida.  Every year, he works with thousands of students as a Teaching Artist with the Disney Performing Arts, “You’re Instrumental” workshops.

Mr. Territo earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Michigan, and a Master’s Degree from Rollins College, in Education, with a concentration in music.  He maintains an active schedule as a conductor, performer, educator, clinician, and speaker.  Territo currently holds the position of Director of Bands and Professor of Music, at Valencia College, in Orlando.

Mr. Aaron Lefkowitz holds degrees from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in Russian Language and Literature and the University of Central Florida in Music Education and Performance. He also has a Master’s of Music Education degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He has taught as a high school band director at Coppell High School in Coppell, Texas, and at Dr. Phillips High School in Orlando, Florida. Having completed his MBA degree at the University of Central Florida, he is currently working as a Vice President/Commercial Lender at Midflorida Credit Union in Orlando, FL.

Mr. Lefkowitz is also on faculty at Rollins College, where he is the director of the Rollins College Wind Ensemble, which he has taught since 2006. He remains active as a performer (trombone), clinician, composer, arranger, and music engraver. His professional memberships include Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and Pi Kappa Lambda.
