National Leadership: “Round Robyn Scenarios”
Participants will be assigned to one of 10 workshop rooms and be presented with 5 scenarios in a small group setting.  Participants will be asked to “act out” the scenarios and problem solve for the next steps according to the ideals and policies of Tau Beta Sigma.  Presenters will travel from room to room sharing their expertise on the topics at hand.

Saturday

Paula Crider:  “Beyond the Notes”
Music touches our souls as nothing else can. This session will serve as a reminder of how the experience of music making can serve us well for the rest of our lives. A portion of this clinic will include “hands on” conducting….just for fun! “Music is like a huge playground. There are so many ways to have fun. “ –Elmo from Sesame Street.

Kim Novak: “Let’s Talk Values
“Focus on your Values” is often a suggested solution for engaging members in improving chapter operations and yet for students leading chapters and councils this task can be more difficult than it seems. Facilitator will provide an interactive session during which students will learn how to engage their chapter or community in meaningful dialogues about what values “look like” in action.  Learn how focusing values conversations on what your chapter or community is supposed to look like instead of what it cannot look like will improve operations and increase involvement from membership.   Strategies for getting the chapter or member’s voices into the room and actively engaged in advancing values-based experiences will be provided.

District Counselors: “Focus on Five Activity Expo”
With more and more chapters participating in the Tau Beta Sigma Focus on Five initiative, there are questions about how to participate and create a worthwhile experience for chapter members.  Join the District Counselors in hands on demonstrations of ideas for fulfilling your Focus on Five Requirements with an emphasis on projects for “Crescendo: A Musical Youth Initiative”.

Dr. Mark Flegg:  “Practicing in Captivity: Tips and Strategies for Effective Practice in the Real World”
Dr. Mark Flegg will discuss some the challenges for non-music majors in regards to adequate and effective practice.  Dr. Flegg will also demonstrate and discuss some basic techniques that are especially geared towards non-music majors.  The workshop will also discuss the new Tau Beta Sigma Musicianship initiative as well as a basics overview of his Structure Practice Methods.

Brandi Mitchell:  “The Bond and the Brand of Tau Beta Sigma:  How it Transfers to Success in Life!”
Think Tau Beta Sigma is just a college experience? Think again!

Success leaves clues. Brandi believes that greatness happens when you push pass being comfortable; so if you’re not scared while doing something new, you probably aren’t playing a big enough game! And she should know; she is the owner of her own successful media company, a three-time author, national speaker, and a film producer and director. In this transparent and entertaining workshop, Brandi shares the life lessons she learned as a member of Tau Beta Sigma and on the marching band field taken from her documentary film Point and Drive to illustrate how those principles condition you for success in life.

Brandi teaches how these lessons can apply to growth in any area from leadership, finances, entrepreneurship, and self-confidence – creating the avenue for extraordinary success, promotion, fulfillment, and successful relationships.
